Kindergarten Curriculum
Our Kindergarten program at Saint Paul School is
based on a philosophy that each child is a unique
individual within a diverse classroom setting. Our full
day schedule in our center-based classroom includes a
curriculum which integrates Reading, Writing,
Mathematics, Religion, Social Studies and Science. Our
students experience a variety of extracurricular
activities such as Music, Art, Physical Education,
Computers and Library while strengthening their
fine-motor, gross-motor, social and emotional needs.
Our Kindergarten curriculum consists of the Scott
Foresman’s Reading Street Program and Math Program.
Within the reading series, the students are grouped
according to their skill level. Our goal is to create
successful, confident and independent readers by the end
of the school year. Families are encouraged to
participate in the weekly reading assignments that are
sent home. In addition, a number of sight words are
expected to be identified throughout the year. Weekly
assessments are conducted to monitor progress in order
to differentiate instruction.
The Math program at Saint Paul School introduces
skills that include recognizing and writing numerals
0-31, counting orally by ones, fives, and tens, adding
and subtracting using manipulatives and number lines.
Graphing, sorting, patterning, telling time, and
identifying coin values are also taught throughout the
year.
Our students participate in daily prayer services
and attend Mass monthly. Our faith-filled environment
fosters an awareness of respect, morale, cooperation and
service among our students.
